Different thicknesses of PET protective films correspond to different application fields

With the popularization of protective films, screen protectors and PET protective films, among other smart product decorations, have also developed rapidly, especially PET protective films. PET protective film is a type of protective film and the simplest polymer organic compound made of special polyethylene (PE) plastic film as the substrate. PET protective film material is transparent and colorless, and the surface has undergone hardening treatment. Generally, the hardness value of the surface of PET protective film material varies from 3H to 4H depending on the origin. The better the surface hardening, the stronger its wear resistance. Transparency is also a major property of PET protective film material, with a transmittance of above 90%. High transmittance not only provides a good visual effect when using related instruments, but also offers good protection for the eyes.


It is well known that the usage rate of PET protective films is very high in the electronics industry, and different tape thicknesses are used in different application areas. The thickness of PET protective films on the market ranges from 30μm to 245μm.

Now let's analyze the characteristics and main applications of PET protective films with different thicknesses:

30μm PET protective film: Although thin, it has good shear resistance, excellent adhesion strength, good aging resistance, and UV resistance. The probability of fogging is very low. It is generally used for LCD screens and fixed nameplates.

50μm-60μm PET protective film: It belongs to the thin variety but still maintains good adhesion effect. It is mainly used for nameplate stickers, earphone microphone accessories, fixing of digital camera reflector film, fixing between LCD reflector film and backlight film, and fixing of mobile phone center button frame.

80μm PET protective film: It has good adhesion ability at room temperature and is suitable for pasting on smooth polar surfaces. It is used for fixing LCD frames, digital camera buttons and hard materials, and fixing LCD front panels.

100μm PET protective film: It has good adhesion strength on smooth surfaces, mainly used for fixing LCD backlight film modules to the bottom frame.

125μm PET protective film: It has good overall performance and good adhesion to most materials. It also has excellent shear resistance and temperature resistance. It is mainly used for fixing windows, lenses, LCD modules in digital cameras, and fixing between LCD backlight film and bottom frame.

150μm PET protective film: It maintains good adhesion at high and low temperatures and is suitable for EPDM sealing strips. It has good resistance to CaCO3 (calcium carbonate).

160μm PET protective film: It not only has excellent shear strength, temperature resistance, and adhesion ability but also ensures reliable adhesion in harsh external environments. It is mainly used for fixing mobile phone windows, lenses, batteries, rubber card slots in digital cameras, and fixing battery boards.

200μm PET protective film: It has extremely strong temperature resistance and is mainly used for fixing windows, lenses, batteries, rubber card slots, memory cards, and battery boards in digital cameras.

240μm PET protective film: It is a thicker material with high hardness and is generally used in large-scale industrial production. It is suitable for fixing molds and decorative components in furniture, as well as fixing electronic load-bearing parts. It can also be bonded to make cards. Generally, the thicker the film, the lower the cost.
